from my table at Starbucks 01.26.12

Sipping a soy hazelnut steamer, and thinking about the absolutely fascinating Steve Jobs biography I have been reading the last couple of days.  Seems he could be a very difficult person; the difficult have always liked me.

There’s a young man to my right working a blackberry, I-Phone and laptop all at once. A true multi-tasker.

The woman next to me is savoring a paperback book.  She seems to be reading every page several times. Sometimes she underlines a line here and there.

There’s a girl on headphones video chatting. She’s not aware of just loudly she’s speaking. Her accent is sooo Valley Girl. You know like uh like uh you hear in the movies. Like uh how all the pretty girls sitting at the Fashion Club table talk like with each other like yooooo knooooow uh.

I’m thinking of going down to the 13th Street Rep to see Line tomorrow night. The play has been running there for 35 years, and I have been meaning to make time to see it for 20. One of my resolutions for 2012 is to get to the theatre more. That includes seeing more good movies too.

Okay, Miss Video Chat and her boyfriend are having the talk, for all of the cafe to hear. Well, we are only hearing what she has to say. Hmmm…now she’s quiet. No doubt he’s listing his complaints.  She is getting quieter. Her voice is cracking. The tears are coming soon. She just told him she’s feeling overwhelmed. I feel bad for her. Sending good vibes and positive energy her way. The tears have begun. And he’s going in for the kill.

Mr. Multi-tasker has left, and he has replaced by a guy who just missed being great looking.

And here comes a student with loads of books. Looks like a night before the exam cram session. I remember those.

Time to go home to a hot bath, a cold drink and maybe something on Netflix.

Or I could get out my journal and pen and write a manifesto or a poem or a play about an Internet Cafe.

Hugs to all.
