The Mermaid Inn NYC

Sunday night the ladies and I dined at The Mermaid Inn. There are three locations in Manhattan; Upper West, East Village & Greenwich Village. We choose Upper West.

I arrived a bit early, which can be awkward at some places. The staff’s warm welcome and the cozy table they showed me too immediately put me at ease.

When the ladies arrived a few minutes we all got very deep into our menus.

They were only serving dinner at the time, which was a bit of a bummer, the place has a Happy Hour snack menu that includes Shrimp & Avocado Sliders, Shrimp Corndogs and Mini Fish Tacos. Well, unless something comes up, I think I’ll do Happy Hour at the East Village location next Sunday.

My dinner choices: Classic Shrimp Cocktail, Fried Green Tomatoes with a dressing of lump crab meat, Fish Tacos. I ordered a side of Truffles Macaroni & Cheese to share.

Everything was good, but I have to say the portions are not generous. The fish and shrimp were more than fresh.

There’s a Raw Bar that includes a selection of East and West Coast Oysters. You can even download their Oysterpedia app to your Smart or I-Phone. I’m not a fan of Raw Bars, but judging from the freshness of everything I would say it’s probably a good bet.

Play, now you’re wondering what’s the little red fish is all about.

Seriously, (s)he will tell your fortune. How? Sorry you’ll have to go there and find out.

Maybe for a Happy Hour.
And maybe I’ll be there too ;)

What I would love to see on the menu in future.

Linguine w/ Fresh Clam Sauce
Red & White Versions</em

Salmon!

A Tilapia fish – maybe something an Indian-style sauce over Saffron Rice

Til later my darlings.
