Hunkered Down for Storm Sandy in NYC

Sandy is sweet. Sandy is the class mom, the designated driver, the go-to girl when your ego slash confidence needs a boost.

This storm is no lady, so I’m going with Atillah. I’ve been trapped home since yesterday morning, when I ventured out for breakfast, and to lay in a supply of essentials: a couple of days worth of Indian take out, lots of canned and dried soups, chips, dip and Coke Zero.

Netflix has been going full force, though I switch over to the news in between movies and TV episodes.

The normally calm Hudson River is high and churning. The shorelines along Brooklyn and the Rockaways are rocking and rolling. Lots of folks are heading for the shoreline to take pictures. A gutsy few are even trying to surf the waves.

I was happy to find an e-mail from Sleep No More. My special event Carnival Corbeaux ticket, originally for Sunday night the 28th will be honored tomorrow night. Right now we are watching The Gates

Only 13 episodes of this supernatural crime drama about a high-end gated filled with witches, vampires, and werewolves. I’m on episode 3 and it’s not bad at all.

I also watched a very interesting Israeli film: Eyes Wide Open

The story of an Orthodox butcher who falls for the young man he recently hired as an assistant. You know there’s actually Modesty Squads that police the Ultra-Orthodox communities beating up on people who are swimming against the oppressive tide. The ending left me wondering, and hoping for the best. Israeli actress Tinkerbell was perfection as the wife.

Til later my darlings.
