Madison Square to Union Square photostroll

This Sunday I took a photostroll between two of my favorite parks: Madison Square & Union Square.

I took the subway down to West 23rd Street, and fortified myself with lunch at Chock full o’ Nuts.  I hadn’t been to one in years.  The classic date nut bread with cream cheese still as yummy.

After lunch I passed a church where a special ceremony had been held for French War Veterans.

Then it was on to Madison Square Park where there’s always a cool public art project.

This amazing statue of Andy Warhol was waiting for me near Union Square.

As usual there was lots of artwork on display around the park.

can’t wait for my Central Park Entire

Any one whose read my blog over the years knows I love the parks of New York.

Why?

Because trees live there.

Just last week I discovered this amazing tree(s) which I call The Sisters Weird.
The three gnarled and twisty wonderful trunks rise from a single base. If you listen closely you can hear them whispering about what they have seen over the years.

I hope to find this and other favorite trees on my copy of the Central Park Entirethe definitive illustrated folding map.  And do read this marvelous article by Margo Adler.
